Stamped Components for
Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Applications
The right design is critical when it comes to stamped components in the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) industry. Because MEP parts are used in building systems, their design and quality are essential to meeting building inspections, code requirements and proper functionality.
Engineering Specialties, Inc. (ESI) works with MEP engineers to produce stamped parts used in both commercial and residential buildings. With years of experience working with MEP-related industries, we know how to meet manufacturer specifications and high production volumes that our clients across these applications require. We also offer assembly services for these components to be used in plumbing systems, ventilation, appliances, cable/wiring and other building applications.
Metal Parts for MEP Systems
ESI partners with our customers from the start: we first look at your component’s design to ensure the stamped component can achieve their intended purpose. MEP parts often operate in a building’s vital systems, such as elevators, HVAC systems, electrical layouts, and plumbing and process systems — so durability and accuracy is essential.
We’ll then work with engineers to address performance requirements and component specifics such as heat transfer, conductivity, and dynamics. We make sure that each component we produce meets or exceeds the mandated guidelines.
Mechanical Applications
At ESI, our metal stamping services produce a wide range of critical HVAC components. These parts perform essential functions in some of the following systems:
- Heating systems, such as heat pumps
- Cooling systems
- Ventilation
- Exhaust systems, such as exhaust fans
- Humidity control
ESI manufactures an assembly for seismic protection in buildings. The cable restraint is comprised of a stamped steel assembly with specialty fasteners and aircraft cable that provides directional restraint to resist seismic load. ESI worked with our customer to ensure the cable assembly met state-enforced safety regulations.
Electrical Applications
We also manufacture stamped metal components for electrical systems, including parts for:
- Appliances
- Cables and wires
- Connectors
- Conduits
As an example, we engineered a connector cover for daisy chained cables with strict size limitations. During the redesign process, we were able to eliminate the welding phase of production and instead implement a progressive die stamping method to form a complete piece. This saved our client 80% off the cost of a 50,000-part order.
Plumbing Applications
ESI also manufactures stamped metal components for plumbing systems. Our stamped components are useful for:
- Sinks and faucets
- Plumbing fixtures
- Fittings, connectors, and clamps
- Sewage and storm water systems
For example, our engineers helped design a revolutionary gripper ring that is compatible with copper, PVC, and PEX style tubing.
